For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. Romans 1:16-17

Gospel Defense by Scott Price "...I am set for the defense of the gospel." Philippians 1:17 Both the Person and the work of Christ is very important to God (the Trinity). The idea of there being another gospel, or in other words a false gospel, is clearly linked to a perversion of both the Person and or the work of Christ. Today let us briefly consider the Person of Christ. I am a white, 38 year old, male, 5'10", weighing 180 lbs, short brown flat top, blue eyes, a pipe fitter, a preacher, a husband and father of 3 children, and lived in Ohio all my life with the exception of military service. If someone told you of a Scott Price who was Chinese, 89 years old, 4'11", 90 lbs, white hair down to his back, brown eyes, blind, flute player, green tea salesman, Buddhist, Communist, virgin, who always lived in Indonesia, hopefully you would know they were talking about another Scott. Could these two descriptions ever be reconciled with each other? Would it be that people are just looking at the same person in two differing ways? Is it only a matter of perception? In a similar way the word of God speaks to specifics concerning exactly who Christ is. The scriptures teach in a clear, distinct fashion that Jesus of Nazareth was the God-man possessing two natures, human and Divine. By the conception of the Spirit of God, this Jesus was born of the "seed of the woman". The mother of His human flesh was a virgin so He would not to come in contact with the sin nature that we all were born with. He being perfect sinless humanity, was born under God's holy law, to fulfill and magnify it. He is the eternal Son of God who created and sustainer the world, but yet He was born in a barn and had to be fed and cleaned by His mother as a baby. This Jesus Christ, who is both God and man, is the most unique Person that ever existed. He has a human body with a soul and yet has all the same divine character attributes that the His heavenly Father has. To take away His Deity or humanity is to make Him "another Jesus". In other words, that would not be the Jesus of the holy scriptures. When we defend the only true Christ of the gospel and meet people who speak of a "Jesus" who is not God, then we can identify that as a false christ. If we find a person who speaks of a "Jesus" who is not really human, we can identify that false christ also. Is this only two people looking at the same Jesus in two different ways? Is this only a matter of perception? Somebody should have told the apostle John that when he penned these words under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit: "Every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is the spirit of anti-christ, whereof ye have heard that it should come, and even now is already in the world." I John 4:3 "Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him and he in God" I John 4:15 "Whosoever transgressth and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, hath both the Father and the Son." II John 9 A false gospel always contains a false christ and any christ that does not meet up to the Biblical description of the true Christ is nothing but an idol of man's imagination. Beware of false prophets powered by another spirit, preaching another gospel, that contains another Jesus. "Believe not every spirit, but try (test) the spirits whether they be of God, because many false prophets are gone out into the world." I John 4:1 |
Even as David also describes the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputes righteousness without works. Romans 4:6
